Happy Sabbath Saints,
A picture of health from quitting to yawing. There's nothing boring about a yawn. It may seem simple, but it's a complex muscular movement that opens your airway and mouth for a long, deep breath of air. Animals as well as humans yawn. The bigger the brain, the longer the yawn. You guessed it, humans yawn longer than say, a kitten's yawn.
You yawn approximately 5-10 times a day. The average yawn lasts 4 - 7 seconds. Don't stifle a yawn! It can help you focus and "wake up" your brain. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 advises, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies."
Boredom, sleepiness, hunger, certain stressful events and thinking about yawning makes us yawn. It usually happens in bursts of two or 3 with increasing intensity. As you know, it's contagious.
The more empathetic a person is, the more likely they are to "catch" a yawn from someone else. A baby starts yawning in the uterus about 12 weeks after conception.
